Avani Kane

Avani believes that the essence of therapy lies in empowering clients to develop a secure  and meaningful relationship with their emotions and beliefs, and thereby with themselves and others; as this paves the way for constructing fulfilling versions of their lives which closely align with their values and life goals. Therefore, for each client, she focuses on customizing the empathetic and non-judgemental therapy space based on what helps them engage in self-reflection and feel heard.

While her preferred approaches are rooted in Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), she also brings in techniques from other approaches like Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy when they’re better suited to address the client’s concerns.

In the past, she has worked with individuals facing concerns related to relationships, work anxiety, anger issues, and emotional disturbances. She practices in English, Marathi and Hindi. As a therapist, she adopts a queer affirmative stance and values authenticity, collaboration and justice.

Avani has completed her Master’s Degree in Lifespan Counselling and her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. When she’s not working, she gravitates towards watercolor painting, reading fiction and travelling.
