Vahishta Kapadia

Vahishta Kapadia is Co-founder and has been working as a Counselling Psychologist at Fettle Counselling for the past 3 years. Her desire to co-create this initiative was based on very visible problems in the field of psychotherapy. Her primary focus in therapy is to provide a comfortable and trusting environment. She specializes in  areas including family issues, interpersonal relationship challenges, work performance or academic stress, identity issues, emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, psycho-oncology, challenges faced by LGBTQIA individuals, and grief work.

She uses a holistic and reflective approach in her practice, which means that an assessment of all areas of the individual’s life is done before creating a treatment plan. In treatment, she uses an insight-oriented approach. While she is trained in a multitude of psychotherapeutic approaches, she leans largely towards psychodynamic and  humanistic approaches.

She has worked as a counselling psychologist for a year at the MINDS Foundation. She has worked at St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, as a clinical supervisor for the current Master’s students. She has completed her Master’s in Psychology: Lifespan Counselling at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, and Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Institute of Human Technology. She is currently training in psychoanalysis at the Psychoanalytic Research and Therapy Centre, Mumbai.

Vahishta is also a Research Associate at Military MIND Academy, trained in psychology and its applications in military contexts, and an active member of the team organizing WARMCAMP International Military Psychology Conference in India since 2018. She has co-authored chapters for the international books ‘Military Psychology: Response to Post Pandemic Reconstruction’ and the Romanian Book ‘PSIHOLOGIE MILITARÄ‚ - RezilienÅ£a, garanÅ£ia succesului’. In the past, she has interned with various schools and organizations such as The Akanksha Foundation and yourdost.com, where she worked with various demographics and a variety of concerns.

In her free time, you will find Vahishta making psychedelic artwork or at the dojo doing Karate.
